What’s it like to spend From Media Luna (Half Moon) listen to the coyote chorus, sit on the deck and marvel at the night sky, see the moonlight fall through the trees in the early morning hours…anyone who has slept in Media Luna says that they hit the pillow and left for the stars until morning. The Woman in the Moon advises that you start your day with a heavenly breakfast…please let us know in advance if you have any special dietary needs. We always try to serve foods that are homemade, and when in season, grown on one of the local farms. Our eggs are from free-range chickens, we often make our own breakfast cheeses, breads, butter, and jams, and we lay bets that our granola is the best you’ll ever taste. When we serve grits, we serve Hoppin’ John’s…they are the real deal. We’ve taken to serving a lot of decaf on the Back o' the Moon these days… it’s not as harsh on the system, and we’ve found some brilliantly flavored decafs, so what’s to lose? Our newest find and favorite is Allegro® coffee, which we first stumbled upon at Whole Foods in “the city”. Their (and our new favorite) Sumatran is a Swiss water process decaf and best described as Allegro does: “herbal, woody, and lusciously full-bodied”. For us Sumatran freaks, that’s what we’re talkin’ about. This coffee is grown by the indigenous Batak population in the Lintong Region of Lake Toba, and as with their other coffees, Allegro® donates 5% of their net profit back to support the local people and neighborhoods. The French Roast is another magnificent decaf… buttery and totally even, with that smoky and caramelized taste of a quality French Roast… yum. We still have our wide range of teas and caffeinated Joe for the die-hards, but we can’t wait until you pull back your chair, look at us with one-eyebrow cocked, and say, “Okay, I’ll try it”… it just works every time. If you want to give it a whirl before you arrive on the Back o' the Moon, it can be delivered right to your home from www.javadistribution.com and it’ll be like having a little piece of ‘the Moon’ right there, in your very own kitchen. |
